Do you want to make your child care toothbrushing program a big success? Follow these State of North Carolina rules about effective sanitation and parental permission to use fluoride toothpaste, the evidence-based and most effective way to prevent tooth decay.
Rule # 1: Parents must give permission for toothbrushing (but now they only have to do it once a year!).
Rule # 2: Teachers/staff (not the child) put the toothpaste on a paper towel or a disposable cup.
Rule # 3: Toothbrushes and rack must be labeled with children’s names or numbers, allowed to air dry, and protected from contamination.
