Want to Protect Children’s Teeth? This New Spanish Oral Health Tool Can Help!

Ready to help your Spanish-speaking families protect their children’s good oral health? The North Carolina Oral Health Section has created a new Spanish version of Your Child Can Keep That Healthy Smile, the oral health risk assessment tool designed especially for parents and caregivers.

¡Su hijo puede conservar esa sonrisa saludable! is a colorful, engaging tool that starts with easy Yes/No questions to figure out a child’s risk for tooth decay. There’s even a short list of symptoms and issues children may be experiencing because of common oral health problems. The useful form also provides basic facts and smart tips families can use right now to build healthy smiles, including a helpful picture of the right amount of safe and healthy fluoride toothpaste to use for infants and toddlers. The goal of this new tool is to give parents who speak Spanish the information they need to work with their child’s medical and dental team to achieve the best oral and overall health.

Remind families that baby needs to go to the dentist by the first birthday. No dentist? No problem! This new tool covers all the bases and provides parents and caregivers with information on how to connect with a Medicaid dental provider in their area.

Click to download this useful, simple form and give families who speak Spanish something to smile about: children’s healthy teeth!
