MouthHealthy.org is brought to you by the ADA, American Dental Association. This is a colorful, easy-to-follow website with oral health information for everyone, from pregnant moms to adults over age 60. The ‘Babies and Kids’ tab on the landing page will take you and parents to important information with helpful photos on brushing with the appropriate amount of fluoride toothpaste beginning with the first tooth. Other topics you’ll find interesting and beneficial in your discussions with parents include teething and the first dental visit.

Brush Up on Oral Health is an awesome monthly e-newsletter from the national Office of Head Start that comes right to your inbox. Quick and easy to read, this colorful newsletter is filled with great information about improving the oral health of infants, toddlers and pregnant women. Each issue highlights a dental topic, many with excellent take-home tips for parents. Recently, Brush-Up featured tips for classroom brushing.

Tooth Talk Resource Spotlight: Caring for Our Children-National Health and Safety Performance Standards: Guidelines for Out-of-Home Child Care Programs

We like that this comprehensive website contains the entire updated Third Edition of the guidelines, including a link to the Special Collection – Oral Health in Child Care and Early Education. The easy-to-navigate format begins with the topic, then lists the standard, rationale (evidence), comments, type of facility where the activity is appropriate, and more. There’s even an FAQ icon beside the topic! This helpful online edition contains a database of current standards that are updated as needed. What a great resource for health coordinators and childcare health consultants!
