Do the parents in your program know that teeth start to develop between the 3rd and 6th month of pregnancy? A healthy pregnancy promotes healthy baby teeth. Here’s some information you may want to share with the parents in your program:
- New moms with untreated cavities may pass tooth decay germs to their babies.
- Oral bacteria from a mom with poor dental health is risky for baby and may cause early childhood caries, the most common chronic childhood disease, as well as other health problems.
- Eating healthy foods, brushing with fluoridated toothpaste, flossing every day and going to the dentist for dental care is safe and necessary during pregnancy.
