Introducing New, Free Training on Classroom Toothbrushing in Child Care Programs

Your job is to make sure children get a good head start in life. Our job is to help! Toothbrushing is an important part of the child care day. But, how do you know if you are doing it correctly, in a safe and healthy way? Brushing Is Fun, Start By Age 1, the producer of Tooth Talk, has created a free, one-hour training course to teach child care staff on-site how to create and implement a successful toothbrushing program.

Recent new NC Guidelines on the toothbrushing process for infants/toddlers and preschoolers is the basis of this entertaining, informative training course Toothbrushing Programs in Child Care: Helping Young Children Grow and Thrive.

The new training course is a step-by-step guide for infant/toddler and preschool classroom teachers:

  • preparing to brush
  • brushing
  • cleaning up after brushing

The course includes sanitation rules, the correct amount of safe and healthy fluoride toothpaste (by children’s age), tips on positioning children for brushing, and how to make brushing fun.

Tooth decay (cavities) is the most common chronic childhood disease. It hurts... and affects a child’s ability to eat, sleep, play, learn, and feel self-confident. Fortunately, it’s preventable! Brushing two times a day with fluoride toothpaste, starting with the first baby tooth, works. A successful toothbrushing program in child care is a great way to help young children grow and thrive!
