Did you know a new childcare rule recommends no juice for infants? The USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program no longer allows juice to be served to infants, ages 6 through 11 months, in participating childcare centers and daycare homes. Effective October 1, 2017, it requires replacing juice with a vegetable, fruit or both at meal times.
This change is based on scientific recommendations from The National Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Pediatrics and others, and corresponds closely with the Caring for Our Children National Health and Safety Performance Standards.
